Ashot Minasyan, known as Ashot Yerkat and commander of the Sisakan detachment, has been released from custody on parole, his lawyer Mihran Poghosyan said, according to Sputnik Armenia.
“He had become eligible for early release on parole, and the head of the penitentiary institution had applied to the Court of First Instance on the matter, but the request was rejected. Based on that, we appealed to the Court of Appeal, which decided to grant the prison chief’s petition and release Ashot Minasyan early on parole,” Poghosyan said.
The lawyer said the Criminal Court of Appeal issued the relevant ruling on October 5.
