Russia requests suspension of Armenian animal feed export certification

Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s federal veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog, has asked Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body to temporarily suspend veterinary certification of products manufactured by Armenian company Modus Granum for export to Russian recipients.

The restriction will remain in effect until Rosselkhoznadzor specialists conduct the relevant inspections at the company, Interfax.ru reported.

The Russian regulatory agency has not disclosed the reasons behind the decision.

Notably, this is not the first time that Modus Granum, which produces feed for fish, cattle, poultry and rabbits, has come under Rosselkhoznadzor’s scrutiny.

A similar decision concerning the company was made in October 2022. At that time, laboratory tests of fish feed samples revealed that the permitted levels of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) had been exceeded and that unregistered GMO lines were present.
