29 of the 34 members of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) have initiated a proposal to convene an extraordinary assembly to introduce amendments and additions to the organization’s statutes.
The initiative is based on Article 34, Paragraph 2, and the provisions of Article 35 of the FFA statutes.
One of the proposed amendments concerns Article 31, Paragraph 4(b), of the statutes. Under the current regulations, individuals seeking nomination to the FFA Executive Committee must, in addition to meeting other established criteria, have permanently resided in Armenia for the preceding year and be proficient in Armenian.
Under the proposed amendments, the initiators seek to remove both restrictions. At the same time, the mandatory requirements that candidates be citizens of the Republic of Armenia and at least 25 years old would remain unchanged.
The second set of amendments concerns Article 38, Paragraph 3, of the FFA statutes, which regulates the calculation of terms of office. Under the current provision, if an official has served for a period shorter than the prescribed four-year term, that period is considered one full term of office, regardless of its actual duration.
The proposed amendment would establish that if an individual has held the relevant position for less than two years, that period would not count as a full term of office. However, service lasting two years or longer would be counted as one full term.
Under the existing regulations, any period of service is considered a full term, even if an official has served only a small fraction of the four-year term.
Further information on the procedure for convening the FFA Extraordinary Assembly and other details will be provided in the near future.
