Strong Armenia nominee fails to secure committee approval

The Strong Armenia parliamentary faction’s nominee for a vacant seat on the Audit Chamber, Taron Varazdatyan, has failed to secure approval from a parliamentary committee.

The faction’s secretary, Tigran Abrahamyan, presented Varazdatyan’s biographical details at a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, Panorama.am reports.

The Civil Contract faction had previously nominated Karen Arustamyan for the same position.

During the committee meeting, lawmakers voted on both candidates.

According to the voting results, Karen Arustamyan received four votes in favor, with no lawmakers voting against his candidacy.

Taron Varazdatyan received two votes in favor and three against.

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs therefore approved the candidacy of Karen Arustamyan, nominated by Civil Contract.

His candidacy will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration.
