Armenia is experiencing fairly strong economic activity, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a government meeting, adding that the country also faces challenges.
“The emerging challenge is our relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which we will work on in the near future,” he said, according to Aysor.am.
Pashinyan stated that Armenia’s entire policy would be directed toward maintaining the country’s economic momentum.
On October 20, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, comprising Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, published a report on the possible consequences of suspending the application of the EAEU Treaty to Armenia. According to the report, if Armenia’s EAEU membership is suspended, the price of imported natural gas could rise by 69%, from the current $177.50 to $300 per 1,000 cubic meters.
