Pashinyan, Queen Sofía discuss Armenian-Spanish relations

Spain’s Queen Sofía arrived in Armenia on October 27 and met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss the further development of relations between the two countries.

Pashinyan welcomed Her Majesty Queen Sofía at the government headquarters and expressed hope that she would leave Armenia with warm impressions of the country.

The prime minister noted that visits to Armenia by two senior Spanish figures this year — first Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and now Queen Sofía — demonstrate the development of bilateral relations.

According to Pashinyan, the positive momentum in relations between the two countries should be used to further strengthen political dialogue.

Queen Sofía thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and said she was impressed by Armenia and its hospitality.

During her stay in Yerevan, Queen Sofía will attend the ceremonial presentation of the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development. She also plans to visit Armenia’s historical and cultural sites and attend events dedicated to Armenian-Spanish friendship.

Her visit will continue until October 29.

Queen Sofía was welcomed at Zvartnots International Airport by Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.
