The Armenian government has effectively begun implementing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a joint meeting of the National Assembly’s standing committees discussing the draft 2027 state budget law.
He also outlined the TRIPP route, Armenpress reports.
“It is absolutely clear and beyond doubt that implementing the TRIPP project will open up Armenia’s transport connections in all directions, both east-west and north-south.
“However, opening up connections in all these directions does not mean that all the infrastructure will be part of the TRIPP project. TRIPP will include the Nrnadzor-Karchevan railway, as well as electricity transmission lines and a road along that route. The issues of a gas pipeline and an oil pipeline will be discussed at a later stage,” Pashinyan said.
The head of government explained that, before the completion of the subsequent organizational procedures for implementing the project, the government would initiate the design of the necessary infrastructure on its own.
“Before the subsequent processes are organized, the Armenian government will, on its own initiative, begin the process of commissioning designs for the TRIPP railway, road and electricity transmission lines so that we do not lose time and can start working on the project.
“Once the TRIPP development company is established, the Armenian government will simply transfer the work already completed to that company,” the prime minister said.
Pashinyan emphasized the initiative’s strategic importance for Armenia, noting that its implementation would make it possible to overcome the transport blockade that has persisted for more than three decades.
On October 28, Armenia’s National Assembly ratified the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States concerning the TRIPP project.
