Control over the construction and operation of the Bushehr nuclear power plant must be exercised by qualified experts but not members of the Iranian parliament, director of the Russian Center for Public Policy Research Vladimir Yevseev said.
“How could the Iranians assess the work and skills of Russian specialists, who are above their level of qualification,” he stressed.
A special commission was established in the Iranian parliament to investigate the cause of suspending the Bushehr nuclear power plant's activity. The commission plans to complete investigation within two months.
Yevseev named the situation absurd, because the established commission intends to actually implement dual control, although Russia is interested in providing security.
“Although Iranians having created extremely difficult situation for ensuring the safety of NPP, Russian specialists are doing their best to ensure the safety of reactor,” he said. “The broken-down equipment, responsible for slowing the launch of the station, was manufactured in Germany in 1960s. This makes Iranian side, not Russia responsible for the situation.”
Yevseev believes that the commission may in some way put pressure on the Russian side for the speedy launching of the NPP, Trend News reported.
