ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT RATIFIED AGREEMENT ON ARMED FORCES STATUS WITHIN PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE PROGRAM

Today the Armenian parliament ratified the agreement on “The Status of the Armed Forces”, concluded within the frames of Partnership for Peace program. The document settles the issues of deploying the armed forces of the NATO member-states and partners at the Partnership territory and regulates the legal bases for Armenia’s participation in the program. As deputy to the Armenian defense minister Artur Aghabekian reported yesterday when submitting the document to the parliament, the undetermined condition of legal relations in this area impeded the Armenian party to enjoy full rights for the participation in the Partnership measures. In his words, the document will also in legislative way provide for security of Armenian servicemen in other states.
