The Nagorno Karabakh problem should be solved in the near future and it should be done via political methods exclusively, Council of Europe (CE) Secretary General Walter Schwimmer stated yesterday at a meeting with OSCE Azeri delegation in Baku, Azeri media reported. “We cannot expect a new war to begin,” he said, adding the availability of the confrontation is contrary to the CE principles. “I suppose the efforts of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to solve the Cyprus problem will give a stimulus to settlement of the Karabakh conflict. If it is possible to solve the Cyprus problem, the settlement of the Karabakh problem is also possible,” Schwimmer said.
