US CONCERNED OVER CONFRONTATION BETWEEN ARMENIAN LEADERSHIP AND OPPOSITION AND CALLED PARTIES TO DIALOGUE

US is concerned over the political situation created in Armenia and, in part, over the tensed confrontation between the leadership and opposition, US State Department special representative Richard Bowcher stated. “We call on both sides to start a dialogue, which would alleviate tension and concentrate the political process at the continuing economic reforms. Attacks and raids upon the offices of political parties, large-scale detentions of opposition activists do not contribute to the creation of the atmosphere essential for the beginning of the political dialogue. We call the parties to regard with the role of peaceful rallies and undertake all the possible measures to prevent violence”, the statement of the US State Department representative says.
