IRAN FOR ENGAGING ARMENIA IN NORTH-SOUTH INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT CORRIDOR

Secretary of the National Security Supreme Council of Iran Hasan Rouhani backed Armenia’s aspiration to become an active participator of the North-South international transport corridor, the initiators of which being Russia, Iran and India. During the meeting with Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian in Tehran he noted that it is “extremely important” to solve the problems with the highway connecting Armenia and Russia. “We should strive to make the Armenia-Russia highway one of the main trunk-roads of the international corridor”, he emphasized. “Having a favorable strategic location and wide-ranging economic possibilities Iran is ready to enlarge the many-sided cooperation between all the neighbors”, H. Rouhani noted, ITAR-TASS agency reports.
