The Japanese government is ready to invest $4,5 million into the construction of Heat Power Plant with the usage of bio-gas in Yerevan, Armenian minister of Environment Vardan Ayvazian told journalists today. In his words, the ministry has already approved the resolution on constructing the HPP with capacity of 1,5 Megawatt at the landfill in Nubarashen. The Japanese company of Shimizu and the Yerevan City Administration are negotiating on this issue at present. However, as the minister noted, the negotiations are being dragged out as the one of the Armenian firm is renting the Nubarashen landfill at the moment. At the same time V. Ayvazian emphasized that the cooperation with the Japanese firm is very beneficial for Armenia. He reminded that the tariff of 8 cents for 1 kilowatt per hour of energy processed out of bio-gas has been fixed in Armenia recently. This tariff is rather suitable for the investor, Ayvazian noted.
