Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Norwegian foreign minister Jan Petersen intends to visit the region on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the near future. “The Council of Europe does not possess mediation mandate for the participation in the process of conflict settlement. We can only contribute to the creation of the atmosphere of mutual understanding between the conflicting parties”, Jan Petersen stated at the PACE sitting in Strasbourg yesterday. He also said he going to meet with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to discuss the situation.
