The bill On Alternative Military Service is coming into effect in Armenia on July 1. In accordance with the law those who guided by some religious motives avoid taking up arms should appeal to the military commissariats to gain a right for 3-year-term alternative military service or labor service by the next call-up beginning on September 1. When commenting on the probable number of applications chief lawyer at Armenia’s defense ministry Sedrak Sedrakian told that “the number of the applications is not expected to be considerable for the army”.
