After the power in Iraq was passed to the local government the Armenian Ministry of foreign Affairs will try to restart the work of the Armenian Embassy in Iraq, foreign minister deputy Ruben Shugarian told Liberty. In his words, during the recent year and a half Armenian diplomats were from time to time sent on a mission to Iraq in view of the issues referring to the protection of the buildings and property of the Armenian diplomatic representations. The minister deputy noted that at present the list of the diplomats to leave for Iraq has been already compiled. The efforts of the official Yerevan for reopening its Embassy in Baghdad are conditioned by the fact that Armenia has certain interests in Iraq including economic ones.
