Armenia abides by obligations to the OSCE and is committed to values of the organization, said Hamlet Gasparian, the Press Secretary to the Armenian Foreign Minister. In his words, “it was just necessary for all OSCE member states to try to find solutions jointly and to take steps to smooth over the imbalance inside the organization, and a reform of the organization is the best means to that end.” The Spokesman considers that the statement in question cannot have a negative impact on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, as the issues raised do not concern either the settlement process or the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno Karabakh at all. It should be reminded that in early July nine CIS member states – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine – addressed the OSCE a statement, accusing the organization of disrespect of their sovereignty. The statement adopted emphasizes the OSCE activities are of politicized character and run counter to such fundamental principles as non-interference in domestic affairs and sovereignty of a state.
