Vienna, July 16, 2004 representatives of Armenia and Turkey exchanged documents on the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. As reported by Milliyet, the meeting was held within the frames of the initiative of “the Armenian-Turkish platform” of the Vienna University. Each party handed in 100 archive documents confirming the fact of the Genocide or, on the contrary, rejecting it. According to the source, till the end of the current year they are supposed to study the documents and then, in 2005, to hold the second discussion of the issue. To remind, last December the Vienna University requested the Turkish Historical Society and the Armenian National Academy of Sciences to consider under the aegis of the University the tragic events taken place in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
