ARMENIAN FM RECEIVED PETER BALAKIAN

Yesterday Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian received well-known American writer of Armenian origin Peter Balakian. During the meeting the matter concerned Balakian’s works thanks to which the issue of the Armenian Genocide aroused interest among large sections of the US public. V. Oskanian aquatinted the writer with the program of measures dedicated to the 90-th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In the course of the visit to Armenia P. Balakian became an honorable member of the Union of Writers of Armenia and was conferred the title of Honorable Doctor of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. To remind, Balakian’s “Black Dog of Fate” and “The Burning Tigris” received various literature awards and became bestsellers.
