“I think it is necessary to give a legal definition of what is understood under “boycott” and how long it can continue. There are countries, which have already settled these relations. I have already ordered the chairman of the State Legal Commission of the National Assembly (NA) to arrange for changes in the law “NA Regulations”: what does the boycott of deputy activities mean.” It was stated by Armenian Parliament Speaker Artur Baghdasarian in the course of a conversation with journalists today, when touching upon the boycott declared by deputies of Justice and National Unity opposition parties for the autumn session as well. As of deprivation of deputy mandates, in the opinion of the National Assembly Chairman, it is “a political decision, which comes out in a concrete vote.” In his words, the coalition will pass a decision after corresponding consultations. “If people intend to follow the way of boycotting the parliamentary activities for the whole of 4 years, discussion of the problem of deprivation of deputy mandates is not ruled out. All this should be discussed and decided jointly – by political forces, representing the coalition and opposition deputies,” A. Baghdasarian added.
