ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKER RECEIVED NATO PA DELEGATION

Armenian Parliament Speaker Artur Baghdasarian met with the members of the joint delegation of subcommittees of the Security of Civil Development Commission and Political Commission of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. As reported by press service of the RA National Assembly, the Speaker expressed hope that the visit to Armenia will give the delegation members the opportunity to have a clear idea of the country and the region as a whole. It was noted during the meeting that Armenia, being a NATO associated member, has been participating in various programs of the Alliance since 1994 and the cooperation within that period was successful. The delegation members noted that they attach special importance to the meeting and are interested in familiarizing themselves with Armenia and discussing the issues of interaction. When exchanging opinions the parties also considered Armenia’s relations with the neighbors, specifically with Turkey, as well as the activities of the Armenian peacekeepers. It was noted that Armenia is interested in good relations with all the neighbor states and in peaceful settlement of regional conflicts and builds its foreign policy for strengthening democracy and integration into the European structures.
