EU TRIES TO END CONFLICTS AND TENSE RELATIONS BETWEEN ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN, EC PRESIDENT STATED

The European Union is ready to open a new chapter in the relations with the South Caucasian countries by historic changes, European Commission (EC) President Romano Prodi stated during the meeting with the students of European regional academy of information and communication technologies of Armenia on Sunday. In his words, peace is necessary in the region to that end, and EU tries to put an end to the conflicts and tense relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the problems of Armenia with Turkey. However, EU is not a mediator and the organization does not have an army. “However we must defend our principles only by establishment of democracy”, R. Prodi noted. The democracy must not be introduced with the help of the bombs or army, but only by political proposals, he added.
