ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTER AND US AMBASSADOR IN YEREVAN DISCUSSED KARABAKH PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT

Today Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Armenia, Defense Minister Serge Sargsian received newly appointed US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans. In the course of the meeting S. Sargsian said he hoped that in the course of J. Evans’ service the Armenian-American relations will strengthen even more. In his turn the Ambassador said he was ready to cooperate both with the Defense Ministry and the Government of Armenia. In the course of the conversation questions of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and regional security issues were also discussed. Speaking of the meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents within the framework of the Summit of CIS state leaders in Astana, the parties noted that contacts at that level have a positive impact on the Karabakh peace process.
