VARDAN OSKANIAN: SITUATION AT VERKHNY LARS CHECKPOINT TO BE SETTLED SOON

The situation with the transportation of the Armenian cargoes across Russian-Georgian border cannot last long, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian stated in an interview with the Public TV Company of Armenia, when commenting on the situation at Verkhny Lars checkpoint. In his words, negotiations at the highest level are being held to solve the problem. Besides, the Minister noted that the process is politically delicate. According to him neither Russia nor Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan derive benefit from the situation, thus the question will get a final solution in the nearest future. To note, the checkpoint was temporarily opened on Sunday, so that 250 vehicles, which were standing idle at the Russian-Georgian border for over three months, could arrive in Armenia.
