In the beginning of the next year Armenia will completely pay off the 26 million euro debt to the European Union. In exchange for the payment before the appointed time Armenia will receive a 22 million euro grant according to the agreement concluded between the country and the EU in 1998, which records the conditions of preschedule payment of debts. To note, Armenia was supposed to pay off the debt in 2009-2013, however the payment process has already started in 1999.
