MEETING OF STATE LEADERS TO TAKE PLACE IN SEPTEMBER

Presentation of a video entitled «We are our history» took place in Yerevan today. This presentation marked the start of events dedicated to the 60-th anniversary of the United Nations. As UN Resident Coordinator Consuelo Vidal in Armenia noted, this year the UN will also mark the 5-th anniversary of the Millennium Declaration. In her words, 191 states (including Armenia) that have signed the Declaration obliged to achieve 8 Millennium Development Goals till 2015. These goals are poverty reduction, achievement of universal education, child mortality reduction and world cooperation, etc. Ms. Vidal also informed that in September state leaders will meet to discuss the Millennium Development Goals. This will be the biggest meeting, first of the kind in the history of the United States.
