“Opposition did not manage to give reasonable arguments on why Armenian citizens have to vote against or boycott the referendum on the Constitution. They did not manage to publish a single comprehensible article on the matter. Their anti-propaganda left no trace in the history,” Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated in an interview with Armenia’s central TV channels. In the Armenian leader’s words, “instead of explaining their position by means of concrete facts, oppositionists gather two or three times a day, go to the regions of the country, hold rallies with yellow flags and never say a word on the content of the drafted amendments to the Constitution.” “Looks like reforms are a process, which is used to reach certain goals. Finally it looks not serious,” R. Kocharian remarked.
According to Mr. Kocharian, the holding of an organized and successful referendum will strengthen Armenia’s position at the international arena – especially against the background of the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan. “Resorting to moves that may weaken our positions under the current conditions it even looks like betrayal,” he said. “This may be an order or ambition, however there is no unambiguous explanation yet. One can only make suppositions, however there is ground for suspicion, but I will not speak about it yet,” R. Kocharian said, reported IA Regnum.
