“There are good prospects for a break-through in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement next year,” NATO Secretary General Special Representative for the South Caucasus Robert Simmons stated at a news conference in Moscow. He also noted that NATO is not competing with the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the South Caucasus. “The NATO is not going to compete with other organizations in the region,” Simmons said adding that the Alliance prefers to cooperate with the South Caucasian states within the Individual Partnership framework. It should be noted that some Russian officials and MPs expressed concern over the fact that the NATO is trying to force Russia out of the post-soviet territory.
