The South Caucasus is the diminished model of the world President Bush mentioned in his annual statement U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Evans stated during today’s press conference. In his words, the U.S. “rejected the roads of isolationism”. “America’s scope includes the counties, which are firmly following the path of democracy and formation of civic society and Armenia has a good chance for progress,” he noted. When commenting on the U.S.’s impact on the Armenian-Iranian relations Mr. Evans noted his country comprehends the energy problems available in Armenia and treats the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline construction with understanding. “The Armenian-American relations will by no means impact upon the Armenian-Iranian relations. I should note that U.S. has three problems with Iran: support of terror and Hezbollah, human rights violations during 20 years and the nuclear program,” he said. At the same time Mr. Evans said he is hopeful for the settlement of all these problems ruling out military interference like in case with Iraq. “These are two different countries and approaches towards them should differ,” the U.S. Ambassador to RA said.
