New Page Opening in Armenia-EU Relations

A new page will be opened in the Armenia-EU relations, European Union Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner stated at a press conference in Yerevan. She said a new round of the Armenia-EU talks will open in Brussels March 6. During it precise measures within the European Neighborhood Policy will be determined. “Besides our traditional programs targeted at poverty reduction, human right protection, reformation of legal system and war on terror we have introduced some issues referring to the diversification of energy. Proceeding from its experience the EU is ready to render assistance to Armenia in all the fields,” she said. In her words, with deepening relations with the EU Armenia enters a new stage of development. “However nothing will come out without regional cooperation. The South Caucasian states should integrate into Europe by means of joint projects only,” she emphasized.
