Armenia Faces Dilemma – East or West

The European integration is a priority task for Armenia, RA Foreign Minister’s Advisor Ashot Voskanian told journalists. In his words, Europe with its cultural and social development is an optimal example for Armenia. The diplomat noted that due to some circumstances Armenia has for a long time been under the influence of the eastern civilization. “We passed this stage and now face a dilemma – East or West. These two civilizations are in a constant opposition to each other and it would be unadvisable for Armenia to side with one of them only,’ he said. In this view Ashot Voskanian considers Armenia’s European integration as the most reasonable variant. “Armenia joined the Council of Europe. Thus the first step has been already done,’ he noted.
