The search-investigation device Squid can withdraw the record boxes from the depth of 600 meters, TETIS PRO company deputy director general Alexander Delyanov stated. The Squid will search the seabed May 5. The investigation radius makes 100 meters at a depth up to 600 meters. The Squid is equipped with video cameras and manipulated arrangement,” Delyanov said.
In his words, the device’s principal task is the investigation of the seabed for fixing underwater objects. “The Squid’s manipulator can put a noose around an object and raise it, if the weight doesn’t exceed 11 kg,” the company representative said. He underscored that the weight of the record box of a Russian plane makes about 10 kg, the weight of the Airbus record box should be nearly the same. “If the record boxes are apart the fuselage the Squid will raise them. But the most important task is to discover them,” Delyanov said, reported Interfax.
