The meeting of GUAM member states for the formation of peacekeeping party is expected to be held in February, chief of the International Relations Department at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Ivan Androsenko stated. He said that peacekeepers’ party will be formed by February. “The problem of participation of GUAM member states in peacekeeping operations will be solved at the meeting to be held in February. Late October discussions were held on the level of deputy chiefs of GUAM Armed Forces Headquarters. The initial structure is ready,” he said.
As to the protests of the unrecognized republics against deploying peacekeepers in South Caucasus and Transdniestria, Androsenko noted that the peacekeepers will be under the aegis of the UN and OSCE and only these organizations will decide where to deploy them, reports Azeri Press.
