“International observers saw what was happening on the election day only. They did not see mass bribing that took place a couple of days earlier. That is why their assessment was positive. Anyway, we should wait for the OSCE’s resulting statement,” Orinats Yerkir party leader Artur Baghdassaryan told a news conference The number of violations was less than during the 2003 elections. However, the bribing was incomparable. Our party possesses the evidence we are going to submit to the Constitutional Court after the announcement of final results of the parliamentary elections,” Baghdassaryan said.
He said the OY has no intention to cooperate with the RPA or any other party except for Heritage. “We will be parliamentary opposition and our activities will be targeted against illegal acts of the authorities,” the OY leader said.
The OY gained 7,04% of votes (some 100 thousand). Artur Baghdassaryan was the Speaker of the 3rd convocation parliament and then resigned. The OY served on the coalition with the Republican Party of Armenia and ARF Dashnaktsutyun.
