It’s not for the first time when Istanbul-based Surb Karapet Armenian church superior’s life is attempted. Father Pargev Nalbandian was assaulted in 2002, a source in the Armenian community of Istanbul told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

On August 4 morning, unknown persons commenced fire in the territory of Surb Karapet Armenian Church in Istanbul.
According to sources in Istanbul, the unknown targeted at the father superior’s house situated in the church yard. Fortunately, there was nobody home at that moment, otherwise the assault could have unpredictable consequences.
The police launched investigation into the act of violence.
