To date 234 AIDS carriers 224 of them being Armenian citizens have been registered in Armenia. Press secretary of the Republican Center for struggle against the AIDS Susanna Tokmajian told “Arminfo” agency. In her words, today Armenia is in the so-called “concentration” period of the spreading of this disease. It means that at least 5% of the virus carriers should be in the risk group. The majority of the sick people were infected in the result of intravenous drug injections. At the same time S. Tokmajian noted that the real number of the AIDS carriers in the republic is ten times as much as the number officially registered.
