The Armenian leadership should make every effort to regain people’s trust towards the authorities, lost after the parliamentary and presidential election. Says the OSCE final report on the parliamentary election held in Armenia May 25. The report also states that to hold democratic election in the future it is necessary to reform the electoral legislation. The document notes that mass violations were mainly registered in the course of counting the votes. In spite of the country leadership efforts to prevent transgressions, those committing them were not called to account, the report says. “The Armenian authorities should make every effort to liquidate the atmosphere of irresponsibility, thus confirming their readiness to hold democratic election in the future,” the document says. At the same time the report notes that in comparison with the presidential election, progress was registered at the parliamentary election, especially in the degree of impartiality of election campaign coverage.
