Protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey success of Armenian diplomacy

The protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey are the result of talks held during a year, said Ruben Safrastyan, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the RA NAS.

This document should be treated seriously. It proves that Turkey does not link normalization of relations with Armenia to Karabakh problem. Besides, it doesn’t mention the Armenian Genocide. That is to say, Turkey doesn’t urge Armenia to withdraw the issue from the republic’s foreign policy agenda,” prof. Safrastyan said.

He also remarked that signature doesn’t guarantee implementation of protocols’ provisions by Turkey.

“This is a long process and Armenian diplomacy should be persistent to achieve success,” prof. Safrastyan said.
