Marseilles hosts event on rebuffing the policies of genocide denial

Recently, the French city of Marseilles hosted the fifth event organized by the Amnesie Internationale. The organization is aimed at resisting the policy of denying the genocides of the 20th century. Along with academia and art representatives, NKR Permanent Representative to France Hovhannes Gevorkian attended the event.

Making a speech during the round-table, Hovhannes Gevorkian dwelt on the Armenian massacres in the Azerbaijani town of Sumgait in 1988. Those atrocities without receiving a proper assessment by the Soviet authorities or the international community, spread over to other Azerbaijani towns populated by Armenians, later growing into a wide-scale war against Nagorno Karabakh, he said.

Condemnation of genocides and massacres at the political level will prevent further tragedies, Hovhannes Gevorkian concluded, press office of the NKR MFA reported.
