“Matthew Bryza is our candidate. He has all it takes to succeed in this position, and we hope for the Senate to support his candidature at the earliest possible date,” VOA News cited U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner as saying.
On September 22, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) announced that she has placed a “hold” on U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan nominee Matthew Bryza.
The Senator’s decision followed a Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote to approve his nomination by voice vote.
