Azerbaijan hopes for Karabakh issue to be resolved in Astana

OSCE summit in Astana can become a turning point in Karabakh conflict settlement, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told journalists in Istanbul.

Assessing the trilateral meeting of Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian presidents in Astrakhan, Elmar Mammadyarov said he will soon meet with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian. As Elmar Mammadyarov noted, it is yet too early to point out issues to be discussed at the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister.

“We had broad discussions in Astrakhan. The presidents of the three states gave instructions to continue the discussions on the level of the foreign ministers. We are working to hold a meeting soon. We will make assessments before the Astana summit,” he said.

Elmar Mammadyarov said the OSCE summit due December 1-2 in Astana can be turning point in the solution to Karabakh problem, and stressed that the roadmap will bring long-lasting peace to the Caucasus, APA reported.
