NATO military base in Izmir will be closed, with a relevant resolution to be adopted at NATO summit in Lisbon, Vatan Turkish newspaper reported.
However, according to Cumhuriyyet, Turkey is aspired to keep the base functioning.
Turkish Armed Forces General Staff said the country hopes to preserve the military installation on its territory, the possible closure of which is explained by NATO’s saving policy.
