Representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in Samara, Russia, called on law enforcers to properly investigate the murder of Armenian student Armen Sahakyan, 19, who died of a stab wound on January 15, 2011.
“One of the police’s versions is robbery. However, this can’t be true. Armen had money, cell phone and a gold chain with him. Nothing was taken. This murder is the third of the kind over the past year,” said Arthur Martirosyan, chairman of the Armenian Community NGO.
Leader of the Samara Armenian youth movement Ruben Gasparov said the national center will launch its own investigation into the killing.
“The situation has tensed. Some forces are trying to split the society. We will collaborate with the law enforcement and the city administration to keep the situation under control,” he said, 63.ru reported.
