Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has appointed new deputy ministers at Armenia’s education and economy ministries and reappointed Aramazd Ghalamkaryan as Water Committee chairman.
Anna Babajanyan has been appointed Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
She received higher education in Armenia and the United Kingdom. From 2017 to 2018, she studied at the University of Cambridge, earning a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Education with a specialization in Globalisation and International Development, Armenpress reports.
From 2015 to 2017, she worked as an English teacher at the Anania Shirakatsy Lyceum in Yerevan, while also teaching at the Dilijan branch of the American University of Armenia’s Open Education program.
From 2019 to 2022, as a coordinating expert, she participated in the working group developing the new State Standard for General Education under the World Bank’s EU4Innovation program. In 2020, she worked as a strategic analyst at the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). From 2022 to 2026, she headed the Center for Strategic Planning at Yerevan State University. From 2023 to 2026, she was concurrently a member of the working group of the KPI4HE Erasmus+ project.
Kristina Tataryan has been appointed Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
Tataryan was educated in the United Kingdom. From 2010 to 2014, she studied at Dean Close School. From 2015 to 2018, she continued her studies at Durham University, earning a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. From 2020 to 2021, she studied at the University of East Anglia and earned a master’s degree in Literary Translation.
From 2018 to 2019, she worked at the United Nations office in Armenia, and from 2019 to 2020, she worked as a translator at Synergy International Systems. During that period, she was involved in a project to develop and implement software solutions in the justice sector for government institutions.
From 2021 to 2024, she served as Armenia editor for Asymptote Journal, an international publication specializing in translations of world literature.
Kristina Tataryan speaks English, Ukrainian, Russian, French and Spanish.
Levon Movsisyan has been appointed Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
From 2011 to 2014, Movsisyan studied at the University of Oxford, earning a doctorate. His main research areas were supramolecular chemistry and novel allotropes of carbon.
From 2005 to 2010, Movsisyan studied at Yerevan State Medical University, qualifying as a pharmacist. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia effective Sept. 2, 2026.
From 2022 to 2024, he worked in the Netherlands as a program manager and senior research scientist. During that period, he was responsible for the end-to-end execution of international drug discovery programs, successfully advancing several programs to subsequent stages.
Tigran Gasparyan has been appointed Deputy Minister of Economy.
In 2019, he earned a master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies at the University of Hamburg in cooperation with the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy.
In 2017, he graduated with honors from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
From 2024 to 2026, Gasparyan worked at Yandex Armenia and Georgia as director of government relations. From 2025 to 2026, he concurrently headed the Center for Demographic Research and Education at Yerevan State University. In 2026, he worked at the World Bank as a short-term consultant in public administration.
From 2022 to 2024, he worked as a public and business management consultant at the management consulting service of Ameria CJSC. From 2019 to 2021, while pursuing his master’s degree at the University of Hamburg, he worked on a voluntary basis as an adviser to a parliamentary faction in Armenia’s National Assembly.
By Pashinyan’s decision, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan has been reappointed chairman of the Water Committee.
“Reappoint Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, acting chairman of the Water Committee, as chairman of the Water Committee,” the decision reads.
