Chaika compares Armenia-Russia ties to large family

Rossotrudnichestvo head Igor Chaika assessed the current state of Armenian-Russian relations, saying they resemble relations within a “large family,” where different situations can occur, TASS reports.

“Relations are normal. Like in a large family, all sorts of things happen,” he said, commenting on the current state of relations between Moscow and Yerevan.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Bishkek. Putin said Armenia’s aspiration toward the EU is the natural and legitimate right of the country and its people, that Armenia is a sovereign state and the Armenian people will determine the direction of its development. However, he said this creates difficulties regarding Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and threatens to nullify the country’s advantages in the EAEU market and disrupt established trade chains.
