Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II visited Yerablur on Independence Day, emphasizing that sacred sites are places of prayer, reflection, and profound emotion for him.
“I have always said that Yerablur and sacred sites are not places for interviews, and we do not give interviews here. In keeping with the meaning of this day, these sacred places are, for us, places of prayer, reflection and profound emotion. Today, at the Mother Cathedral, we once again raised our supplication and prayer to God as we marked the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. We offered our plea to God that Armenian statehood, our homeland and our people remain steadfast,” he said, according to Panorama.am .
The Catholicos recalled that the Mother See’s message and address to the people had been published in the morning.
“We have come to Yerablur to bow before the memory of the fallen and, at the same time, to pray that the sons and daughters of our nation, both in Armenia and throughout the Diaspora, be inspired by the courageous spirit, devotion and commitment of our heroic children and dedicate their service to strengthening our statehood, empowering our homeland and ensuring a blessed and prosperous life for our people.
May the Lord help and protect our people. Let us live in harmony and unity and also fulfill the aspirations and wishes of our heroic children, for which they gave their precious and cherished lives. May the Lord always extend His protective hand over our homeland and our people, and may we live in peace, harmony and tranquility,” he said.
