RA NA to debate TRIPP agreement ratification Oct 27

Armenia’s National Assembly will discuss ratification of the Armenia-U.S. agreement concerning TRIPP during its plenary session on October 27.

On October 21, the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations discussed the draft law on ratifying the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States concerning the TRIPP project. Following a vote, the committee approved its inclusion on the agenda of a parliamentary plenary session.

The United States has already completed the procedures necessary for the agreement to enter into force. Once the corresponding procedures are completed in Armenia, the international agreement concerning TRIPP will take effect.

On October 21, senior Armenian officials paid a working visit to Syunik Province to discuss preparations for designing infrastructure under the TRIPP project.

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who participated in the visit, said: “At this stage, we are talking about the railway, the highway and the routing of energy infrastructure lines. As for the railway, essentially everything is clear, and there is nothing new for us. We mainly wanted to assess the condition of the engineering structures on-site once again. But I think it is obvious where the railway will run. There is nothing to discuss in that regard.”
