Armenian parliament approves Board of Peace charter

Armenia’s National Assembly has approved the Board of Peace charter by 90 votes in favor, none against and eight abstentions, ratifying the document governing the country’s participation in the organization.

The Strong Armenia faction voted in favor, while the Armenia faction abstained, according to Factor.am.

The Board of Peace is an international organization initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump. It was initially established to oversee postwar governance and reconstruction in Gaza, but its stated ambitions extend further, including participation in resolving other conflicts.

According to published information about the initial charter, regular membership was envisaged for a three-year term without a mandatory $1 billion payment, while a $1 billion contribution would provide an opportunity to obtain permanent membership.

Armenia is among the founding participants. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the charter-signing ceremony in Davos on January 22, 2026. The White House subsequently also listed Armenia as a member of the Board of Peace.
