Louvre, History Museum of Armenia explore deeper museum cooperation

Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Arman Khachatryan, met with Christophe Leribault, president-director of the Louvre Museum, to discuss expanding cultural cooperation between the two countries and prospects for developing joint initiatives between their museums, the Armenian Embassy in France reports.

The meeting addressed cooperation between the Louvre and the History Museum of Armenia under a memorandum of understanding signed in 2024. The exhibition “Sacred Dialogue: From the Louvre to the History Museum of Armenia,” presented in Yerevan in 2025–2026, was highlighted as a significant milestone in this partnership. The exhibition brought together collections from both museums and provided an opportunity to showcase the richness of Armenian cultural heritage to an international audience.

Ambassador Khachatryan emphasized the importance of continuously developing the partnership, particularly through joint exhibitions, scientific research, professional exchanges and broader presentations of Armenian art and cultural heritage in France.

In this context, the participants also explored opportunities for cooperation within the Louvre’s Department of Byzantine Art and Eastern Christian Cultures.

The meeting underscored the important role of cultural cooperation in strengthening mutual understanding between peoples and advancing the strategic partnership between Armenia and France.
