In Jerusalem’s Armenian Quarter, a Jewish man spat near the entrance to St. James Cathedral, then spoke rudely to and insulted an Armenian security guard who reprimanded him. Israeli-based journalist Gegham Balyan reported the incident on X, where he also shared a video.
The footage shows the Armenian guard confronting the man and reproaching him, saying, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? You’re spitting on the monastery.”
The man responded with insults and told the guard to “shut up.”
Similar incidents targeting Armenians and Armenian churches and monasteries in Israel have occurred repeatedly. On September 25, Israeli Jewish extremists sprayed pepper spray into the face of a 9-year-old Armenian boy in Jerusalem.
